100-GroupThe College of Natural Sciences offers an advance placement program known as the 100-Group to last year High school students that have applied to one of its programs. Students that have met the admission requirements of the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras and the College of Natural Sciences are ranked based on their IGS (50% GPA and 50% CEEB) and the top 100 hundred are given a placement test that assesses a student’s level of preparation in science. Once in the university, students’ that score high in the Math exam can register in two science courses offered by the College of Natural Sciences and two basic courses(English, Spanish, Humanities or Social Sciences) offered by the College of General Studies. Those students that did not score high in the placement test will have to take all of her/his first year courses’ in the College of General Studies. In some instances students that do not have the minimum IGS may be considered if they show exceptional qualifications, including research expertise gained in previous years. |
